Remember we started out with three fundamental physical quantities, time, distance and mass. From these we derived velocity and acceleration. But there are more important concepts in mechanics that can be derived from these fundamental quantities.
momentum = mass · velocity = kg · m/s
impulse = force · time = N · s = kg ·m/s
work = force · distance = N · m = kg·m²/s²
power = work/time= N · m/s = kg·m²/s³
